SUNDAY, JULY 31

Attempted Burglary

A 30-year-old man, whose 2008 Ford Explorer was parked in the 16600 block of Jean Lane, called police to report that between 11 p.m. July 30 and 7:30 a.m. July 31, someone tried to get into his vehicle. The sport utility vehicle had damage to its door frame, including pry marks and scratches. A piece of plastic was missing from one of the windows. No one actually entered the vehicle, according to the report.

Air Conditioner Stolen

A 50-year-old man, of the 7700 block of West 159th Street, called the cops around 5:15 p.m. to report that sometime during the past month, his window air conditioner had been stolen. He said he didn't notice because the unit no longer worked and he hadn't used his air conditioning in about a year.

Bike Missing

Police said a 14-year-old boy had his bike stolen from the rack on the west side of White Water Canyon, 8105 W. 171st St. He told police he believed the bicycle was taken between 7:10 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. It was not locked to the rack.

Mailboxes Damaged

Police were called to a home in the 7700 block of South Marquette Drive in Tinley Park around 3:30 a.m. about an hour after a 41-year-old resident said someone had damaged his metal mailbox. The mailbox looked like it had been blown up using fireworks, according to the report. A green, plastic mailbox on the next block also was destroyed.

Sometime between 10 p.m. July 29 and 5:45 a.m. July 30, someone damaged a mailbox in the 7600 block of West Prestwick Drive, police said. The plastic mailbox was pushed, causing its base to crack. The 56-year-old man who reported the vandalism noted that flowers were pulled from his brick mailbox flower pot and thrown into the street.

A white, wooden mailbox post in the 7600 block of Prestwick Drive in Tinley Park was partially pushed over into the street. Police said no one was home when they tried to tell residents about the damage.

Warrant Arrests

Gregory R. Jackson, 40, of the 15400 block of Arroyo Drive in Oak Forest, was arrested around 1 p.m. at an unspecified location on a warrant for driving under the influence. The arrest was part of the His bail was set at $2,500, according to the report.

Jason M. Fugate, 25, of the 17100 block of Overhill Avenue in Tinley Park, was arrested around 2 p.m. at his home on a warrant for driving with a suspended license. The arrest was also part of Friday's sweep. His bail was set at $3,000, according to the report.

Rachel L. Rouque, 18, of the 6800 block of Kingston Road in Tinley Park, was arrested around 12:25 p.m. at her home on a warrant for driving with a suspended license, police said. The arrest was part of the South Suburban sweep. Her bail was set at $2,500.

Burglary to a Vehicle

A 38-year-old woman, who was parked at LA Fitness, 18400 W. 183rd St., called police to report that between 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., someone broke into her 2000 Kia. Her purse, which had been behind the passenger seat and underneath a coat, was stolen from the vehicle. Her purse contained a driver's license, Bank of America credit card, State Farm Insurance card and $30 cash. The rear passenger window of the car was smashed, according to the report. Police have said burglaries in the LA Fitness lot are becoming increasingly common.

THURSDAY, JULY 28

Man Stuffs Laptop in Pants, Police Say

Robert C. Dickman, 33, of the 100 block of Zugspits Way in Las Vegas, Nev., was arrested around 3:30 p.m. at Super K-Mart, 16300 Harlem Ave., and charged with felony retail theft.
 Police said a loss prevention officer watched Dickman open remove a Dell Inspirion laptop computer from its box and place it into the front of his pants, according to the report. Dickman then left the store through its east doors, where the officer stopped him. The laptop was priced at $549.99.

Drive-by Egging

A 57-year-old man, who was driving southbound on 80th Avenue around 11:40 p.m., called the cops after his 2011 Toyota Avalon was "struck by an unknown object," according to the police report. He told police he thought it was an egg. It landed on the hood of his vehicle.

Wallet Stolen

Police said a 32-year-old man called them around 3:40 p.m. to report that several credit cards were missing from his wallet. He said he believed the three cards were snatched from his pickup truck while he was parked in the 17400 block of South 64th Court in Tinley Park.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 27

Death Threats Via Text Message

A 19-year-old man went to the , 7850 183rd St., to report that at 11:30 p.m., someone sent him a text message threatening to kill him and a friend. The text referred to him as "fat Moe," and to his friend as "Mickey Mouse," according to the report. They used the phrases, "shoot on sight," and "you can't hide forever," when referring to the pair. The victim said he doesn't know who sent him the text.

Pellet Gun Breaks Glass

A 32-year-old man, of the 6500 block of Riverside Drive, said that around 10:25 p.m., someone threw or fired something at his front bay window. The object, which may have been a pellet from a gun, cracked the outer glass pane, police said.

Driving Under the Influence

Cori A. Attaway, 53, of the 25500 block of South Chicago Road in Elwood, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. near the intersection of South Harlem Avenue and West 183rd Street in Tinley Park. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane use, police said. Attaway was pulled over after it was reported she was driving erratically.

MONDAY, JULY 25

Woman Trips Customer, Snags Wallet

A 45-year-old woman, who was waiting for her food order at Portillo's, 15900 Harlem Ave., called police to report that around 5:30 p.m., another woman tripped her. She teetered, but didn't fall. "The victim advised that she had just paid for her food and her purse was on her shoulder with the zipper open," the report said. After the woman sat down and ate, she noticed that her wallet was missing. It contained $20 in cash, 15 miscellaneous credit cards and a checkbook. Several of her cards were used at Orland Square Mall, police said.

SATURDAY, JULY 23

Fountain Fun

Police found three people—two from New Lenox and one from Tinley Park—in the fountain at Zabrocki Plaza around 2:40 a.m. A man and a woman were standing in the structure at its base level, while one woman was standing on its top tier, police said. Police asked the trio to get out, but they were not cited.

Credit Card Fraud

A 28-year-old man called police to report that his First Financial Bank Visa Card was charged for $2,010 to a PayPal account. The man didn't buy anything through PayPal, he said, and didn't give anyone else permission to do so.

FRIDAY, JULY 22

Woman Charged with DUI

Tiffany L. Narwick, 34, of the 8300 block of Dunmore Drive, was charged with driving under the influence and improper lane usage after a traffic stop around Lincoln Highway and Pfeiffer Road.

TUESDAY, JULY 19

Fight Leads to Public Drunkenness, Underage Drinking Charges

Matthew C. Swiderski, 21, of the 7800 block of Wheatfield Drive in Frankfort, and Konstantinos Loumbroukos, 22, of the 14900 block of Dogwood Drive in Orland Park, were charged with public intoxication after Frankfort police responded to a call about a fight at Tommy Nevins, 9680 Lincoln-Way Lane.

Unconnected to the fight,Michael A. Mitchell, 20, of the 7700 block of Northfield Lane in Tinley Park, was charged with obstruction of a police officer, misrepresentation of age and possession and consumption of alcohol at the same time after customers and employees at Tommy Nevins informed officers about underage drinking at the bar. Frankfort police will now forward information of the underage drinking to the Village Liquor Board, which will investigate Tommy Nevins to see if there was any wrongdoing on the bar's part, Commander Kevin Keegan said.
