Jonathan Andrew"Andy” Caldwell

Jonathan Andrew"Andy” Caldwell, 56 of Floyd died Monday, August 6, 2024.

He is preceded indeath by parents, Iven Dail and Norma Sue Caldwell; and brother,Raymond Caldwell.

He is survived byhis wife, Donna G. Caldwell; sons and daughters-in-law, BrandonCaldwell, David and Nikki Caldwell, and Cody and Katelyn Caldwell;grandchildren, Dathan and Cheyenne Caldwell; brothers andsisters-in-law, Bruce and Teresa Caldwell, Dail Caldwell, Leon andTerry Caldwell, Lary and Bobbi Caldwell, and Jason Caldwell;granddogs, Max and Ruby; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins,family, and friends.

Funeral Serviceswill be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, in the Maberry FuneralHome Chapel. Interment will follow in Laurel Branch Cemetery. Thefamily will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Phyllis Ann Crigger

Phyllis Ann Crigger,67, of Atkins died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024.

She was born inSmyth County on Jan. 4, 1957. She was preceded in death by herparents Jerry and Gary Hetrick and her husband William NewtonCrigger.

She is survived byher son, Robert Montgomery Crigger and wife, Andrea, of Max Meadows;grandsons Austin Crigger and wife, Catherine, of Meadowview andHunter and Jacob Crigger of Max Meadows; great-granddaughters, KyrinCrigger, Aunalyse Crigger and Maren Crigger; brothers, Wes Hetrick ofGeorgia and James Wyatt of Smyth County; sisters, Carolyn Wallace ofGeorgia and Rosa Blevins; and furry friend her loyal companionShadow.

Funeral serviceswill be held 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at Lindsey Memorial Chapel withfamily and friends. Interment will follow in the Pleasant HillCemetery in Groseclose. The family will receive friends from noonuntil service time.

Larry A. Dean

Larry A. Dean, bornand raised in Marion, and settled on Scratch Gravel Road with hiswife of 50 years, Deborah Dean, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024, athome.

Dean is preceded indeath by his parents Charles Edwin Dean and Ruby Fowler Dean ofMarion and his grandmother Eva Moore.

He graduated fromMarion Senior High School in 1970 and began his vocation at VirginiaHighlands Community College in the field of machining technology andadvanced his skills into a journeyman tool and die maker along withother advanced qualifications within his trade as the yearsprogressed. His proudest career accomplishment was becoming a SeniorTooling Engineer for Titan Wheel Corporation in Saltville and manypins of achievements with the Future Farmers of America from VT. Hiscareer spanned 40 years from multiple companies with most of theconcentration around big wheel mining equipment. He considered hisvocation a passion, a joy and a gift from God. He loved going to dragracing events, fishing and working on wood turning projects at hisshop. He didn't know a stranger and could strike up a conversationwith anyone. He especially loved his dogs Baby, MaHoney and others.He was a family man that loved family gatherings and to pull hisjokes around the family table.

He is survived byhis wife, Deborah Dean of Marion; three children, Lisa Dean Gilbertof Elkin, North Carolina; Dana Dean Crewey and husband, Josh CreweySr. of Rural Retreat and Travis Dean of Marion; four grandchildren,Brian and Tyler Crockett and Joshua and Issac Crewey; fivegreat-grandchildren, AnnaLee, Gideon, Georgia, Silas and AtticusCrockett; one brother Garry Dean of Rural Retreat; extended familymembers including cousins, and nephew; and many special friendsthroughout his life such as Bud Crowe of Independence that he lookedup to, Eddie Lykins of Fairborn, Ohio, and many others he came toknow within the racing and manufacturing community.

Funeral serviceswill be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, from the Bradley’sFuneral Home Chapel in Marion with the Revs. Tim Crockett and TravisDean officiating. Interment will follow in the Wassum ValleyCemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., on Saturdayat the funeral home. Bessie Lee EstepDent

Bessie Lee EstepDent, 91, of Bastian died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024.

She was a lovingwife, mother, sister, aunt, but most importantly, "Mamaw.” Shewas born in Coeburn to the late Ewell Berry and Della Mae SandersEstep.

She was preceded indeath by her husband of 50 years, Ray Alfred Dent; three sisters,Charlotte Meade, Rosie Hagan and Margaret Fisher; three brothers,Cecil Estep, Roy Estep and Donald Estep; two babies, Sheila Mae andBarry Wayne, two sons-in-law, Darrell Caudill and Dennis Freeman; andone daughter-in-law, Brenda Dent.

For years, she wasdedicated to her home church, the Church of God of Prophecy, inBastian. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and enjoyed singingwith all her family. She enjoyed studying the Bible and raisingchildren, whether hers or someone else’s. She will be known by herfamily as a faithful prayer warrior and doll collector.

She is survived byher children, Danny Ray and Terry Dent of Bastian, Cammy and JamesBowles of Bastian, Sherry Caudill of Ocala, Florida, Karen Freeman ofFries, Tony Dent of the home and Randy and Christa Dent of RuralRetreat; and 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 10great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral serviceswill be held Saturday, Aug. 10, at 1 p.m. at the Church of God ofProphecy in Bastian with the Rev. Dannis McLemore. Burial will followin Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.until 1 p.m.

Kasey Lyn MullinsFisher

Kasey Lyn MullinsFisher, 44, of Wytheville died Aug. 5, 2024, at home.

Fisher was born Dec.8, 1979, in London, Ohio, daughter of the late Steven Ray Mullins andPamela Lyn Terry Mullins. Fisher lived her early years in MountGilead, Ohio and moved with her family to Wytheville at the age of11. Aside from a brief time living in Fairfax and Bedford ,Virginia,she called Wytheville her hometown. Fisher became a mom at an earlyage, but she was determined to further her education, so she enrolledin night school and earned her GED. Life as a young mom was notalways easy, and Fisher did her best to live her life the best wayshe knew how. The one thing that she never wavered on was the lovethat she had for her children and her grandchildren, she was so veryproud of them. In her own words, "My family is my everything.Without them I’d be lost! They give me the strength to keepfighting every day!”

We find greatcomfort in knowing that there was a time in her life that Fisheraccepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She had a big heart.She could not stand to see anyone in need, from a hot meal to ashower, or even just a cup of coffee and some conversation. She didnot pass judgment, she simply showed kindness.

Fisher is survivedby her daughters, Kerri Fisher Steele (Justin) of Wytheville andLauren "Rosebud” Fisher of Wytheville; her son, Ehan Fisher ofWytheville; three grandchildren, Jayce, Ayden, and Keira Steele ofWytheville; two aunts, Elain Terry Waddell of Pulaski and Patty TerryCox of Pulaski and cousin Jamie Terry; and by special extendedfamily, Greg Fisher and Eric Fisher, both of Wytheville.

In addition to herparents, Fisher was preceded in death by her sister, Angela JeanMullins Akers, her Uncle Brad Waddell, Uncle Sam "Pedro” Terry,Jr; her maternal grandparents, Sam Terry Sr. and Margaret GravelyTerry and her paternal grandparents, Kenneth Mullins and Betty NelsonMullins.

There will be aCelebration of Life on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 2 p.m. at Barnett FuneralHome. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1 p.m. untilservice time.

In lieu of flowers,please consider making a donation to Barnett Funeral Home to help thefamily with final expenses or to the Open-Door Café, to help providea hot meal for someone in need, in memory of Kasey.

Edwin Jerrold Killenbetter known as Eddie Killen, 75, of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, diedTuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, in the Forsyth Medical Center.

Killen was bornSept. 11, 1945, in Grayson County to Elbert Morris and Mary BeatriceMurphy Killen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in deathby three sisters Jame Lee Bartley; Jean Shupping and JeanetteLineberry and a brother Elbert "Pete” Killon Jr.

He is survived byhis daughter Susan Renee Thoren of North Carolina; severalgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend JoyceAnderson.

A graveside servicewill be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Saddle Mountain Cemetery withthe Rev. Rodney Christman officiating. There will be no visitation atthe funeral home.

Eva Louise Testerman

Eva LouiseTesterman, 97, died Aug. 7, 2024, at Commonwealth Senior Living, herhome for the last 16 years.

Testerman was bornon Dec. 2, 1926, in Clinchburg, Virginia, to the late Melvin andAlberta Heath Testerman.

In addition to herparents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Virgil Testerman,Guy Testerman, Alma Cain, Sarah Schnepper, Mary Lou Farris, and EdithMusick.

Those left tocherish her memory include numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wouldlike to extend a special thanks to the staff of Commonwealth SeniorLiving at Abingdon for their years of love and care.

A graveside servicewill be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. in the Old Glade BaptistChurch Cemetery.
